CrimeReports, owned by Motorola, is a Google Maps and police-data mash-up web application. It is a cool website because it allows you to get a birds-eye view of crimes happening anywhere in the US. The data is incomplete though. It doesn’t have all crimes, just the crimes that are shared publicly by police stations.

The site is still cool though. You can easily spot on the map which areas have a feed of crimes being reported. The app differentiates the type of crime by using different icons.

If CrimeReports has crime information in your area, you’ll be surprised how many local crimes occur on any given day. The site has an alert feature which will e-mail you about crimes that occurred in your area.

They also have sections of the website where you can Submit a Tip or Register a Camera.
