There are an impressive amount of bad games for iOS out there. With an increasing number of games releasing every month, it can be time consuming to find which games are worth your time and money. Most mobile games are made to waste your time or try to drain every dollar from your account through micro transactions. Some games stand above the rest in terms of quality and value. We’ve made a list of the top 10 iOS games launched in 2017, similar to the list that we made in 2016.

Fire Emblem Heroes - Free

Nintendo has started putting out a few mobile games in the past year and a half, including Super Mario Run and Miitomo. Fire Emblem Heroes joins the ranks as this year’s big mobile release. Heroes takes the series’ classic turn-based formula and adapts it perfectly for mobile devices. Warriors from all Fire Emblem games make appearances in this anime-inspired war game.

Skullgirls - Free

Skullgirls is a 2D fighter that originally launched on consoles in 2012. The hand drawn animations and quirky characters quickly found a cult following. The fighter is now available on iOS, with an increasing number of features and characters for players to explore and unlock. It’s certainly one of the top 10 iOS games launched in 2017, and may be the best fighter on the platform.

Terra Battle 2 - Free

Terra Battle, a mobile game from the creator of the original Final Fantasy, arrived in 2014. The sequel launches with light but potent content. The battles are still intense and the character design vibrant and unique. Summon warriors and take out enemy forces in the main story or complete challenges for rewards.

Injustice 2 - Free

If you don’t have access to a current generation console, Injustice 2 on mobile is as close as you’ll get to experiencing the excellent fighter. Some of DC’s most iconic superheroes and some lesser known ones make their appearance in Injustice 2, allowing for leveling, upgrades, and special moves. It’s one of the top 10 iOS games launched in 2017, despite being a stripped down version of the console version.

Card Thief - $3

Card Thief is a game of strategy using a deck of illustrated cards. It’s a refreshing take on card games, in which you use stealth to steal gold and make your way to the exit. Sneak past guards and receive rewards for advancing through the game.

Monument Valley 2 - $5

The original Monument Valley blew mobile games away with its beautiful artwork and smart puzzles. Monument Valley 2 continues the trend the first game set, although it doesn’t really push the envelope too much further. It’s still an incredible game in its own right and well worth the asking price.

Flower - $5

Flower was critically acclaimed when it first landed on PlayStation 3 way back in 2009. This was an experience that no other game had provided yet. It’s now available on iOS and is a faithful port of the original.

Pokemon: Magikarp Jump - Free

The fact that this game exists makes me so confused. I’m even more confused because it’s actually a really fun and creative game. Magikarp Jump puts your skills to the test as a Magikarp trainer. Defeat other trainers and grow your Magikarp into the ultimate fighting weapon.

Layton's Mystery Journey - $16

Don’t be put off by the price of this brilliant game. You’re getting a high quality puzzle adventure for a low price, all things considered. Use logic and creative thinking to solve a mystery through multiple stages of challenging puzzles.

The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth - $15

This has to be one of the most bizarre and disturbing games I’ve ever experienced. This biblically inspired game takes influence from the original Legend of Zelda with its dungeons full of enemies. You play as Isaac, traveling deeper into the abyss using a variety of random items with unique properties. The Binding of Isaac may be one of the best indie games released in recent years, so give it a try.

So there you have it, those are the top 10 iOS games launched in 2017. There was a great deal of variety in 2017, as games continue to evolve and improve. Which 2017 iOS games do you really enjoy?
